Our Worship
We attempt to meet the wide variety of needs of our congregation as they worship our Lord and Saviour. We have four services each Sunday, with four very distinct themes and worship approaches:
- At 8:30 AM we have a traditional Holy Communion Service, using the Book of Common Prayer.
- At 10:00 AM we have our main service. We predominantly use the Book of Alternate Services for our worship, projecting the services on a screen behind the Altar. Children are welcome to remain in worship or attend the Children's Church that takes place at the same time in our Hall (downstairs).
Spiritual Formation
Jesus dealt with all sorts of social and theological issues in his earthly ministry, often teaching in the form of parables and punctuating his teachings with miracles and prayers. We also try and make the Gospel relevant in all aspects of our common life through a variety of means.
- We run a monthly seminar/educational event. The topics for 2010/2011 include: "C.S. Lewis and his Spiritual Journey".
- On Tuesdays at 1:30 PM, our Study Group meets in the Rector's Study. This fall we will use Max Lucado's book, "Facing our Giants".
- Starting in late October, on Thursday evenings, we run a Campus Alpha - a 7 week course on the introduction to the Christian Faith. This course is open to all.
- Lectio Divina - an intimate and prayerful exploration of the scripture readings for the coming Sunday.
- We host a Parish based Marriage Preparation Course three times a year.
- We host a series of Communion Breakfasts throughout the year. We invite a leader from our community to talk about issues that are of importance to them and to us.
Ministry with the Young at Heart
Jesus often ministered to the children of his time, either by using them as examples in his parables or by going out of his way to bless them. Our ministry to our youth is a priority.
We run an active Sunday School for children aged 3 - 12. We refer to our Sunday School as Children's Church, for the children do have a separate time of worship geared specifically for their age group. This worship often includes drama, discussion, questions and involves each member of the Children's Church before they break into various classes depending on their age, for further instruction.
The CLB, for youth aged 5 - 21, meets every Wednesday night. Based on the Cadet model of ministry, this large and successful organization instructs our youth in regards to spirituality and citizenship, and involves a strong and effective outreach into our community.
