MUN Ministry

With our location being adjacent to Memorial University, we host a series of events organized by the students who attend St. Augustine's. These events include:

  • Monthly meals cooked and hosted by a student. The next meal is October 15th.
  • Paint Ball (going out on a Friday evening, using the Rector as target practice)
  • Curling - legally throwing rocks in a glass house)
  • Caroling - helping to bring the Christmas Cheer into our hearts and others homes)

MUN Christian Fellowship held their Annual Retreat at St. Augustine's Church last in mid January. Approximately 40 students participated in this 48 hour retreat.

The Miracle of the feeding of the 80!

Recently, St. Augustine's hosted a Welcome to Memorial Supper on Friday, September 29th. While we had only 6 students register for the meal, we had prepared food for 30 - being somewhat optimistic. This year, we hosted this supper with the assistance of the International Students Association and the students who attend regularly at St. Augustine's.

However, instead of only 6 coming, the students just kept coming and coming and coming, with us having to set up more and more tables and chairs. We do know how frustrating the disciples would have found it when those 5,000 men came by to hear Jesus speak at that mountainside. I am sure they were frustrated with his attitude of basically 'don't worry, they'll get fed', because all of us wondered how it would happen.

But, it was with the assistance of a local pizza parlour and spreading our food out to feed the many more that came, that everyone left having been fed and fed well.

We are planning to continue this ministry, after all, it is something we have done for the past 15 years and we do want to continue. However, we will be seeking to get the students to register before coming next time!
