The CLB is a vibrant youth organization which has a long and glorious history. It was founded in England on November 11, 1891, by Walter Mallock Gee. One year later it was introduced to Newfoundland in 1892 by Harold Blackler with the permission of Bishop Jones, Anglican Bishop of Newfoundland.

A major strength of our organization is its roots in the Church of England. Today it remains a vital part of the Anglican Church in Newfoundland. Our motto is taken from St. Paul's Epistle to Timothy, Chapter 6, verse 12.

The object of the CLB is the advancement of Christ's kingdom among youth; the promotion of Christian charity, reverence, discipline and self respect, and all that tends towards true Christian character.

St. Augustine's Company consists of four sections as follows:

• Little Training Corps (LTC) Ages 5 & 6 (Grade K & 1)
• Young Training Corps (YTC) Ages 7, 8 & 9 (Grade 2 & 3)
• Junior Training Corps (JTC) Ages 10, 11 & 12 (Grades 5, 6 & 7)
• Senior Corps (SC) Ages 13 & up (Grades 8 & up)

Throughout the year all four sections have programs of activities which see badges awarded upon completion for wearing on their uniform. These programs are mixed with other activities such as parties, outings or visits.

An important component of the training program is camping. The CLB has a long and colourful camping component. Camping began in Topsail in 1893 and over the years had grown. Today it is the closing phase of a successful CLB year.
