Welcome to our Confirmation Class.

I am so very excited that you have chosen to confirm your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. I know, we at St. Augustine’s will do everything in our power to uphold you in prayer and to offer encouragement to you and your family during this next year. Confirmation, as suggested by its very name, is a time of making firm one’s belief and reasons for faith in our Lord. In every sense of the word, you will be asked to confirm the promises made for you, by your parents and Godparents, when you were baptized.

During our Confirmation Class, you will be expected to attend and participate in a number of educational activities and instructional classes. These classes will take place on Sunday mornings at 9 am, during the 9am service. Often, the Confirmands will be requested to stay for the 11 am service, as they will be assisting in some way during that service. We will also have some homework for each confirmands to complete that will be found on our website after each class.

Your regular attendance at church is an absolute must. The expectation will be that:

    • You will be in church at least 50% of the time over the next year and that

    • you will actively participate in both the classes and the ministries you have chosen.

To help make St. Augustine's your church, each of you will be expected to choose at least one form of ministry to participate in. Following a brief time of instruction on January 20th or 27th, immediately after the 11:00 AM service, you will be regularly scheduled to take an active role in the ministry you have chosen.

Areas of ministry you will be selecting from are as follows:

  • Servers: The expectation, that once trained, you would serve on the Altar, as per the schedule provided, assisting the Priest with the service by carrying the Cross, passing the Priest the Wine and the Water and Bread, and lighting the putting out the candles.

  • Greeters: The expectation, that once trained, you would serve as a Greeter at the door, as per the schedule provided, greeting and warmly welcoming people into our church as they enter.

  • Sidespeople: The expectation, that once trained, you would serve as a Sidesperson, as per the schedule provided, passing out bulletins, taking up collection and bringing it forward to the server.

  • Choir members: The expectation would be that you would attend the weekly choir practices (Wednesday night) and sing in the choir on a regular basis on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am.

Class Project

Throughout the next year, we will be asking that the Confirmation Class work on a particular project that will be presented to the Church on the day of your confirmation. The Confirmation Class will actively discuss what sort of project your class wishes to do.

We are pleased to also make open to you three areas of ministry with our youth:

  • Children’s Church which meets every Sunday at 11:00 AM,

  • Our Youth Group, which meets every Monday at 7:00 PM and

  • Our CLB which meets every Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
